East African Community Secretariat, Arusha, 4 December 2013: The 14th EAC JuaKali/Nguvu Kazi Exhibition is taking place on 8 - 15 December 2013 at the Railways Club Sports Ground, Uhuru Park in Nairobi, Kenya. The theme of the Exhibition is Jua Kali/Nguvu Kazi (MSEs) for value addition and product quality for EAC industrialization.
According to the EAC Principal Trade Officer (Internal) Mr. Nduati Wa Karanja, as of this week,1,070 (one thousand and seventy) Exhibitors had registered and confirmed participation. They are distributed among the Partner States as follows:- The United Republic of Tanzania, 250; Kenya, 600; Uganda, 120; Rwanda, 60; and Burundi, 40.
A one-day Symposium for the Exhibitors will be held on 13 December, 2013 during which the following papers will be presented by resource persons from Partner States.
Access to affordable credit facilities for SMEs to be cover the following areas
-Sources, Institutions;
-Types of packages available,
-interest rates and any other costs
-amounts to be advanced,
-eligibility- collaterals,
-Repayments period,
-Defaulting,
-Refinancing,
-late payments/over drafts and
-any other requirements
How to access government procurement to cover the following areas:
-Procedures/ requirements;
-Eligibility;
-Any preferential/quota for MSEs; and
-Terms of payments.
Accessing the retail outlets markets to cover the following areas:
-Why most Jua Kali/Nguvu Kazi (MSEs) products are not accessing the retail markets;
-Why Jua Kali/Nguvu Kazi products are not properly displayed;
-Requirements;
-Payments; and
-Any other related issues to accessing the retail outlet markets.
