The Executive Senior Vice President of Japan International Cooperation Agency, JICA, Mr. Kazuhiko KOSHIKAWA is scheduled to make a three-day official visit to Tanzania from February 27 to March 1, 2019. 

Mr. Kazuhiko KOSHIKAWA will also observe some of the JICA-supported projects in Dar es salaam and in Kilimanjaro Regions. 

In Dar es salaam he is expected to witness the Contractor Signing Ceremony of the Project for the Widening of New Bagamoyo Road (Mwenge – Morocco Section) tentatively scheduled for February 28, 2019 and in Kilimanjaro, he is expected to observe activities of the Project for Supporting Rice Development Industry in Tanzania commonly known as TANRICE Project 2 at the Lower Moshi Irrigation area on March 1, 2019. 

JICA is the world’s largest bilateral aid agency which works in over 150 countries and regions and has some over 100 overseas offices including the one in Tanzania. 

JICA Tanzania Office was officially opened in 1980 although Japanese assistance to the country commenced in 1962 with the acceptance of participants for technical training in Japan. Working closely with the Government, JICA’s operations in the country have continued to grow and expand over the years and now include not only technical cooperation but also the provision of grant aid and concessionary loans. 

JICA’s cooperation activities are in line with Tanzania Government’s development agenda which gives priority to sectors such as agriculture, industry, infrastructure development as well as the improvement of public services. 

JICA’s flagship projects include such projects as: Selander Bridge (1980), Mfugale Flyover (2018) etc. 

Projects currently being implemented range from quality infrastructure projects, health, water and energy to agriculture and education projects etc.
