Mr Michuzi and other stakeholders,
In the recent past, we have seen two kinds of investigative journalism in Tanzania.First, Saeed Kubenea who owns and runs a weekly tabloid, MwanaHalisi, has been unveiling very serious issues related to grave goverrnment corruption.
Though his articles are sensational, unbalanced, subjective and at times lacking authenticity, Kubenea has shown the way in daring to publish his 'investigative' reports.
Though he has no training, can we now say that there is no need for one to go to school, in order to become a good journalist?
Some people have even gone further saying that MwanaHalisi is just like a notice board, whereby somebody with a grudge against the other goes and announces what he/she wants.
In short, some media professionals think that the paper lack some qualities. The second one is Vicky Ntetema, a renown BBC journalist who has shown how to conduct investigative journalism.
Vicky recently spent two months in Shinyanga and Mwanza regions, trying to find out why albinos are killed in that area, and his one-week report in the BBC last week was very fascinating and exemplary.
The state organs like police and DCI are now using Vicky's report to curb and arrest all people connected in this barbarious acts of killing albinos in the Lake Zone.
QUESTION: Now, who should be an exemplary of investigative journalism in Tanzania.
Is is Kubenea and Vicky? and why?
I tend to MOVE.
