Dear kaka Ankal!
I was on PW Precission Air Flight 713 at 15.50 Dar- ZNZ flight this evening
We took off from Dar with heavy rain and windy, I even asked the crew why the pilot trying to rush while the weather is not good at all. They didn't seems to be bothered with what I said to them.
After a very rainy and turbulent trip, we descended to land at Zanzibar. Just when the engines started to die down, the pilot aborted landing attempt 15-20 feet off the ground due to heavy cross wind in Zanzibar. The engines kicked in really loud and the nose of the plane went up what felt like a 45-degree angle.
From my aisle seat I saw that we were at a weird spot above the runway, almost looked like the tarmac where planes taxi in and out to position themselves. The visibility was very low (due to rain) most of the passengers were gasping and some even pointing and the main cabin was dead silent.
After we gained altitude, the pilot announced that "we were on the wrong spot above the runway because of visibility and cross wind that they aborted for safety reasons". If we cant make it for the second time we may proceed to Arusha or Nairobi because even Dar Airport the weather were not good that time. We circled for another 20 mins and finally landed with no problems.
I have experienced aborted landing attempts before, but this was undoubtedly different. It felt like a near-miss collision with coconut trees behind the Zanzibar Airport

wow.. i never understand the rush for these planes to take off when weather is bad..its doent matter if its windy, rainy, snowie its always safe to wait till u get the go ahead from the weather forecast and the controllers. Pole sana, thanx to the the almighty u all made it safely!
ReplyDeleteMdau,

Samahani kaka kwenye kichwa cha habari ,Did you mean Recovering?
ReplyDeletethanks
