The SOMA Portal is set to provide to Tanzanians affordable access to world-class learning tools to improve ICT skills across Tanzania.
The growing digital divide has created a knowledge divide. While most secondary school students in developed countries are starting to learn more online than they are in the classroom, less than 1% of schools in developing countries have access the ICT skills that create opportunities access to the 21st Century workplace.

The Government of Tanzania has embraced ICT education as critical to gain and maintain economic and social advantages. However, the deployment of computers, high quality learning tools and training takes time. Every year our young people are falling farther and farther behind. Immediate action is needed to halt this trend. To help improve access to ICT skills, world leading e-learning organization Fusion Universal has developed a 5-year ICT curriculum for students and a comprehensive video-based training tool for teachers and adult learners. These tools cover everything from the very basics of computing to advance software applications.
Through partnership with DOT Technologies, a local technology service provider, Fusion is aiming to provide access to these tools for educational institutions across Tanzania.
However, through partnership with local internet service provider, UhuruOne and the PostaNet program, we can now provide access to these incredible learning tools online to all Tanzanians.
Through the ‘SOMA Portal’ anyone can access these incredible learning tools within their nearest Post Office, at no additional cost. As well as accessing the portal through PostaNet, access is available anywhere on the UhuruOne network, free of charge for UhuruOne users and at a very low cost for independent users.
To access the SOMA Portal, just purchase a scratch card from any Post Office or SelcomMobile PayPoint, log on to the page soma.uhuruone.com, and enter the username and password found on the scratch card.
By providing a student with digital literacy and facilitating access to computers and the Internet we are giving them the opportunity to acquire knowledge and shared experience from all across the globe. Effective education changes lives.
