FAMILY PLANNING & HEALTH SUPPORT THROUGH MOBILE TECHNOLOGY Julia Ruben (center) the Zanzibar Program Manager for D-Tree International demonstrates a mobile phone based nutritional assessment and monitoring tool to participants from the Ethiopian Ministry of Health and Ministry of Communications at a conference titled “Using Mobile Technology to Improve Family Planning and Health” taking place at the Bank of Tanzania Conference Center in Dar es Salaam from November 12-16. The focus of the week-long conference is on how the use of mobile technology can improve family planning and health programs to reach people in rural areas. Over 150 people from Ministries of Health and partner organizations from 15 African countries are attending the conference, which is sponsored by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and co-hosted in partnership with Tanzania's Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
