Dar es Salaam, 5 July 2025
Yaya Resources Limited, a fast-growing Tanzanian mining contracting company, is making waves in East Africa’s extractive industry by offering a range of integrated mining solutions backed by advanced technology and skilled professionals.
Speaking during an exclusive interview at the ongoing 49th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), famously known as Sabasaba, Ms. Sakina Mwiru, Customer Relations Manager of Yaya Resources, underscored the company’s commitment to delivering value, fostering local participation, and setting new standards in mining operations.
“Our dedication lies in delivering unparalleled service, ensuring our clients receive full value for their investments,” said Ms. Mwiru. “We bring together a blend of seasoned professionals and ambitious young engineers—making us a dynamic force in the mining sector.”
Established in 2021 in Mbeya, the company began with modest small-scale mining activities in Chunya and only four staff members. Within just four years, Yaya Resources has transformed into a prominent name in the mining contracting space, offering services in mining excavation, hauling, drilling and exploration, and aggregate crushing and supply.
By 2022, the firm had moved its headquarters to Dar es Salaam, strengthened its management structure, and acquired major mining equipment, expanding its workforce to ten. In 2023, the company secured a landmark contract with Shanta Mining Company Limited in Singida, resulting in further equipment acquisitions and staff growth to 30 members.
“Currently, the company has more than 150 staff who are competent in various professions and skills,” Ms. Mwiru emphasized.
Yaya Resources has since successfully executed key mining projects at Bulyanhulu, Shanta Mines, and New Luika Mines, demonstrating consistent performance and reliability. The company’s mining fleet includes a variety of Caterpillar machinery—chosen for its reliability and efficiency—as well as a fleet of tipper trucks used for specialized tasks.
“We prioritize machine availability and always maintain a backup strategy to minimize downtime,” Ms. Mwiru explained.
In addition to excavation and hauling, the company provides comprehensive drilling and exploration services tailored to the diverse needs of clients in the mining and natural resource sectors.
Yaya Resources also operates advanced aggregate crushing and supply services, processing materials such as granite, limestone, and recycled concrete. The company places a strong emphasis on safety, timeliness, and sustainability.
“We understand that aggregate is a natural resource, and we take every measure to operate responsibly, ensuring a better tomorrow,” she added.
A notable aspect of the company’s growth strategy is its focus on strategic partnerships. Yaya Resources has entered into joint ventures with several international firms to expand its operations across and beyond Tanzania while complying with local content regulations.
“These partnerships bring in additional equipment and technical capacity,” Ms. Mwiru stated, “but we ensure that management, contract administration, and decision-making remain under Yaya’s control. This helps us maintain our identity as a Tanzanian company built for African success.”
As a participant at the 49th DITF under the Ministry of Minerals Pavilion, Yaya Resources is using the platform to network with stakeholders, attract new clients, and showcase the capabilities that have positioned it as a leader in the mining contracting space in East Africa.
“We invite all investors, mining companies, and development partners to visit our booth and explore how we can support their projects with professional excellence and local expertise,” Ms. Mwiru concluded.
From humble beginnings to regional ambition, Yaya Resources is proving that homegrown companies can thrive at the forefront of Africa’s mining boom—powered by vision, innovation, and a strong commitment to sustainable development.
